About Challahrado Hearth

The hands behind Challahrado Hearth belong to Luisa Hagemeier, an ex-New Yorker who is ecstatic to call Denver home.

After practicing law for 25 years, Luisa traded in the courtroom for culinary school and some fantastic bakery kitchens, and she has never looked back.

While Luisa loves baking anything, she has a special love for challah.  Growing up on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, great challah was plentiful; there was always fresh challah on Shabbat and for every holiday. Crusty and salty on the outside, fluffy, sweet and a little doughy on the inside.  Sometimes it was even still warm. Challah has always been special not only because it is so delicious, but also because it is so resonant of warm family times.

Of course, you don't have to be Jewish to love challah! Challah is the undisputed champion for French toast. And as anyone who knows challah will tell you, once you start eating it, you can't stop!
